What the critics say...

Here are a selection of personal tweets & comments made by the press and general public...

Alexandra played the role of the 'Stepmother' in Stephen

Sondheim's 'Into the Woods' at the Theatre Royal, Bath. Directed by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam.

'Many people see the Stepmother as something of a throw away, one dimensional role; but Alexandra Waite-Roberts made it her own. The programme reads as if it's her first time in a principal role. If that's the case, then Casting Director's have been sleeping on the job. Brill.'

Alexandra played the role of 'Bubbles', and understudied Sheridan Smith & Natasha Barnes in the title role of 'Fanny Brice'. A role she had the opportunity to play on several occasions. All tweets on the left are in relation to her performances as the lead role.

  • '@funnygirl_uk was absolutely sensational tonight in Bradford. Alexandra Waite-Roberts was just stunning as Fanny Brice. What a show.' (@laramitchell - Twitter)

  • At the performance I saw, the role of Fanny Brice was played by understudy Alexandra Waite-Roberts. Waite-Roberts is a joy to watch as Fanny Brice.  Her understated approach adopts Brice’s humour and quirks while also adding a new level of understanding to this well known persona. Fanny’s silliness and easygoing nature is only emphasised by Waite-Roberts, so much so that the lasting punch of the musical is even more effective.

  • 'Of course, pantomime is basically a love story. Princess Kate (Alexandra Waite-Roberts) and Jack (Holly Easterbrook) play the parts as real characters and both have fine singing voices so that each number is a virtuoso piece'.
